Be A Kid Again!

My friend, Laura from our retreat posted a few group pictures on her blog and I promptly hijacked this one! This was our Thursday night dinner gang. We piled into Meg's rental which was a Chrysler Sebring convertible. Colleen, pictured in front was hiking and we picked her up on the side of the road and she sat on top of everyone in the backseat, hence the pose for this photo! We giggled alot and it reminded each of us of being teenagers trying to squeeze as many into a car as we could get in there. By the way, Colleen is an awesome singer/songwriter and Laura has the most incredible voice. On Saturday night of the retreat, "guests" are encouraged to share their talents after Christine sings. I, of course, shared my ability to listen, encourage and be totally amazed! I began cleaning my office before the retreat and am still looking for a new desk! The following "list" was in my files under humor. I save things that make me smile for days when I am grumpy. I have no idea where it came from and the author is listed as unknown. I realized when reading the list that I have not grown up yet and why should I anyway!!!

Be A Kid Again

*Give yourself a gold star for everything good you do today*Dot all your "i"s with smiley faces* Sing into your hairbrush*Wear a milk mustache*Smile back at the man in the moon* Read the comics...throw the rest of the paper away*Dunk your cookies*Play a game where you make up the rules as you go along*Order with eyes that are bigger than your stomach* Open a pack of cupcakes and give one to a friend even though you really didn't want to share*Step carefully over sidewalk cracks*Change into some play clothes*Try to get someone to trade you a better sandwich*Have a staring contest with your cat*Eat ice cream for breakfast*Kiss a frog, just in case*Give someone a hug-around-the-neck*Blow the wrapper off of a straw*Refuse to eat crusts*Make a face the next time somebody tells you NO*Ask WHY Alot*Have someone read you a story*Sneak frosting off a cake*Refuse to back down in a did-vs-didn't argument*Do a cartwheel*Hide your vegetables under your napkin*Stay up past your bedtime*Whatever you are doing, stop once in awhile for recess*Wear red tennis shoes* Make a slurpy sound with your straw*Put way too much sugar on your cereal*Play a song you really like over and over, very loudly*Find some pretty stones and save them*Walk barefoot in wet grass*Make screeching noises every time you turn a corner*Fuss a little, then take a nap*Eat dinner at the coffee table*Giggle a lot for no reason*

There is a very good possibility that I wrote this or something similar as I frequently write stuff and stick it somewhere only to forget I wrote it. Additionally, I have done or do many of the above activities on a regular basis! I am so amused about making screeching noises every time I turn a corner...I have not done this and I am not sure my 81 year old and 82 year old co-workers would thank me for it! Makes me giggle though!!! Go ahead, amuse yourself, you will be glad you did!

I actually do some of the stuff on your list! My favorite thing is sliding on hardwood floors, most of the time grabbing onto the doorframe and swinging myself into whatever room. It's not very much fun being a grown up, I don't like it.

I cannot WAIT until you get your new desk!

BTW, I am thrilled that you had such a great time at the retreat. And since you don't sing, you can always do something else! Once I performed an 'interpretive dance'/poetry piece that I ended with "pull my finger".

I found it hysterical!

Whaddaya mean again????

I have loved the last few blogs...seems that your creativity was jogged loose with that retreat....My favorite was the blog about your Dad...It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered all the wonderful things about my Dad....

I shall continue enjoying my childhood...why grow up or be normal????

I especially like the play clothes and nap part. Sometimes I must admit that always be the responsible adult gets a little tiresome.
