Everybody Loves a Parade

Everyone loves a parade, right...men, women, children of all ages gathered around to cheer on the SOS Hall of Fame dancers, shag clubs and apparently anyone with a golf cart or convertible as they rolled down the drive to the sounds of beach music. All except this guy...The word anal is missing from his t-shirt. This man took his job to a whole new level. Oh, Mr. Parade Official I think all the grown ups here know to get out of the way of the floats and stuff.

A few of the "floozies" watching the parade...floozies tend to wear hats for any occasion!

The Diva has been repeatedly asked to ride on the "floats" however she maintains...why ride on one float when you can be a part of the whole parade? Quick Connie, take a picture because I want one of these umbrellas later...sounds like another arts and crap project for me!

Ugga Chukka Ugga Chukka...Shagging, so easy a Caveman can do it...yeah right...they haven't met this Cavegirl

Livin in the wild, wild west...one of my favorites...love the music...love the can can girls and the cannot "girl" up top!

Well of course she's gonna hitch a ride on the nearest horse...did you expect otherwise?

A parade at the beach always requires at least one boat!

And what kind a parade would it be without a clown or two? Do you watch from the sidelines and cheer everyone on or do you stay away? A GREAT time was had by all this day!!! Too many pictures to share to little time!!!

Life is a Beach

Who doesn't love a beach party! Home to many fun filled, idyllic days in the sand and surf...and shopping, eating, dancing, parades...I love the coast...anywhere...I love bodies of water large and small.
Ashes and debris on the sand as a result of wildfires near the coast of South Carolina.

Amidst a ranging wildfire whilst recovering from respiratory ailments may not sound like a good idea...however...the smoke was minimal at "our" end of the beach. I was quite saddened by the damage and destruction due to carelessness...I could go on about our stewardship to the environment...that's a story for another day...today...we embrace the beauty of the coast and the joy of having delightful, wonderful, caring friends!!!!!
I witnessed a phenomenon that occurs in the Spring, Autumn and Mid-Winter on the Strand as the multitudes flock to the coast for SOS (Shagging on the Strand) Activities abound to tickle your fancy...one can do as much or as little as the heart desires! The floozies (with the exception of moi) have attended SOS for many, many, many years...to clarify, I do not dance much, if ever, so I was not inclined to attend the festivities...during our tea party (see previous post) as the conversation turned to SOS, I was invited to spend the weekend...the lovely Rhetta drove Debbie and I to the beach on Thursday evening, the Diva and the Princess of Quite a Lot prepared dinner and a fun, relaxing time was had by all! A MOST HEARTFELT APPRECIATION goes out to the Diva's boy toy, TOM...delightful and lovely man that he is...cooked homemade buttermilk pancakes and BACON for our Friday morning breakfast...thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Afterwards a girl's morning was spent at the vineyards followed by a scrumptious seafood lunch at The Grapevine. Naps were taken and some took off for an evening of dance and merriment. The parade on Saturday deserves a story of its own and will be forthcoming! I cannot express the delight and joy of the long weekend spent with such WONDERFUL FRIENDS (thank you all!) Along the way I made the acquaintence of a few new friends...
This little guy was torn between following his master down the beach or staying with me!!!

I didn't know the Easter bunny stayed over at the beach...How about you do you love a gorgeous coastline?

One Lump or Two

Imagine, if you will, a quaint, picturesque small town (think Mayberry) about an hour from the state capitol...Ridgeway, SC is the home of Laura's Tea Room located in The Thomas Company building. Begun as the I.C. Thomas Company by Isaac Thomas in 1885, the store sold general merchandise of every description. The present brick store was erected in 1911 and is still owned by a fourth generation member of the Thomas Family. Now, imagine a group of lovely ladies decked out to celebrate a birthday (as did the floozies), a bridal shower, a daddy-daughter outing or an afternoon of socializing complete with fabulous refreshments and servers that cater to your every whim! Sign the guestbook...select your cup and saucer...prepare to enjoy...

Lunch menu: iced herbal tea with lemonade and ginger ale, variety of black and herbal teas, scones, quiche, a variety of tea sandwiches (yummy) and a variety of desserts (think chocolate dipped strawberries) all served on beautiful china.

You may wear your own hat or select one to borrow...this is NOT a borrowed hat that our lovely Diva is wearing...Yes, she did have to walk through the door sideways. Can you see three of us in the picture? Jeanne is in there somewhere behind the plumage...she still has afterglow from the Hawaiian Honeymoon!

Let's try on some hats and open presents! So, whaddyathink...is it me, does this hat say "Princess" to you?!

How cute am I....

The "floozies" do what "floozies" do best LAUGH, talk, eat, drink and be merry whilst being waited on hand and foot. Oh did I mention the lovely general store downstairs...we are just darling at shopping...boosting the economy, if you will...

Ridgeway for all its quaintness also has A police car and they will give you A GIANT ticket if you are a fraction of a mile over the speed limit...everyone who has ever driven through the town to get to I-77 knows this for a fact. The town had to build a new police station to house THE police car. The old police station was open until 1990...how is that for progress.

A good time was had by all...the floozies and entourage will be heading out to Shagging on the Strand, affectionately know as SOS and yours truly (who does NOT dance) will enjoy the festivities as well! That is if I get a release (no, not from an institution) from the el doctorow...I am SUPPOSED to stay home and rest...All is well, dear friends...I am not having a heart attack...just inflamed, infected pleura...and blood pressure a tad too high...

I wish she'd get those darn feathers out of my face...it ain't easy being a Princess with a Diva for a friend!!! She gets all the attention...we love her anyway.

Pole Fitness Dancing Puuuuleeeeze!!!

I have totally gained a new respect for pole dancers, truly! You must be incredibly fit to swing from a pole! How do I know this you may ask...the floozies planned a special birthday outing for yours truly! I was only told to be ready for pick up and to dress comfortably. As we pulled into the parking lot, my exclamation was I. AM. NOT. POLE DANCING...along with you have got to be freakin kidding me, right???? A private birthday party/lesson was arranged for the floozies and a floozie sister. I have never had so much fun! It is like ballet gone wild with plies and pirouettes and so forth. I have pain in muscles I did not know existed...I think my hair even hurts. As I think of this adventure all I can do is grin from ear to ear. Everyone should have the most awesome friends...thanks "floozies" it was an incredible experience and I love you for sharing my birthday and always giving of yourselves so generously. We were at the studio for about two hours and then the party moved to Elle's house for a light dinner, relaxing and fabulous gifts...thank you Elle for hosting the party. With full heart and tummy I went home and crashed after a good long soak in the jacuzzi.
Our most gracious, patient and fun instructor, Aisha (sp) this gal had the most amazing muscles I have ever seen...i.e. look at her calves!
The Debster...you want me to do what???? The Debster obviously did not get the clothing memo!

The Diva brought some extra exercise clothes since I was dressed for Winter and had no clue about the dancing. Yes, girls we can do this and IT WILL BE FUN.

I can do this "body wave" and "stir the pot" as soon as I regain some measure of composure!

Oh Ma Bonté j'ai besoin d'un moment...

this is how we do it uh huh...think of the song by Montell Jordan...

Come on Sis...this is a blast..."We are Family, I got all my sisters with me....

Hmmmm...some people have hidden talents! This floozie sister was a joy to include in our adventure! Thanks for coming.
Oh we see you...come out and play!!! Very nice legs, the new exercise addition must be working out nicely!

We were treated to an expert performance and instruction on how to do a chair dance...it was all very nicely done and not embarrassing for anyone. The chair fitness moves were a whole lot easier than the pole exercises. A fun time was had by ALL! If you need a fitness challenge...pole fitness is an absolute MUST DO!

Flamingos, Forks, Balloons and Shamrocks

Gather around children and I will tell you a tale of Flamingos, Forks, Balloons and Shamrocks.
If you are truly lucky and blessed, into your life will come fairies, princesses, divas and all manner of fey (magical, enchanting, whimsical, being in unnaturally high spirits) creatures.
Once upon a time there was in fact a rather pessimistic, worrying kind of lady in waiting. What she was waiting for she didn't know nor did she feel particularly positive that anything good would become of her. In her lowliest time, an edict was issued that she and her daughters were to attend to Heavenly Father's business in another vineyard. It was in the new vineyard that she met all manner of angels, princesses, goddesses, and divas. She was taught the meaning of Joy! and Friendship that extends into the eternities! The princess learned to love life and very much wanted her daughters to experience this same Joy! For you see the King of All has issued an invitation to surround yourself with lovely creatures of great faith, peace, love, kindness and compassion. The princess has become a princess of quite a lot...she still has many roads to travel, fey creatures to meet and Joy to Spread!
Flamingos are beautiful, elegant pink birds that can bend over backwards to provide food and assistance to those in need. Their likeness has been replicated in plastic and all manner of tchotchkes. In an effort to show much love and affection to one enduring a "big" birthday...her yard and home was inundated with pink flamingos of every size, streamers were hung from every tree and balloons adorned every room of her home. As a welcome home to yet another "floozie" her home was visited by a flock of flamingos. After which any floozie could come home to find herself visited by flamingos wearing all manner of dress.
One particular "floozie" had a particular disliking for the celebration of St. Patrick's Day and was thus secretly showered with hundreds of shamrocks as she attended her business that day. Attempting to pay for groceries, it was discovered that she had piles of confetti shamrocks in her purse. Ahhh...the floozies are a magical and sneaky bunch. Good hearted mischief abounds...
Divas too can be subject to the whims of unknown creatures...mystery still surrounds us as to the identity of the "forker" You must first understand that the Diva had some of the most beautiful flowers in the land and the neighborhood cats found her flowers particularly enticing and lovely to sit upon. In an effort to save the flowers, plastic forks were placed amongst the flowers to discourage the nocturnal visitors. No cats were harmed they were just unable to get comfortable among the flowers and sought out new yards to conquer. Divas and princesses are frequently seen together and attend many social functions in the land. As the companions arrived at the Diva's home...one of the princesses of quite a lot was peering through bleary eyes to see to her atonishment what she thought were hundreds of mushrooms growing in the yard...the Diva had been FORKED!!! Hundreds of Plastic forks were buried throughout the land. The Diva's footman was much annoyed when it became clear that he must rid the entire land of Forks! To this day the mystery has not been solved!
Beware the Flamingo Floozies! You have been warned...befriending one may cause strange, magical, fey occurances to happen in your life!
A most heartfelt thank you goes to Rosezilla and Dishy for their fabulous stories as they have inspired me to try something a little different in the telling of my "story"!!! They are truly "floozies" by proxy!
Floozie = fun-loving, spirited, kind, compassionate, magical, faithful, generous friends with a great sense of style!
